How does it feel

To be a surreptitious elephant in the room?

An oxymoron in terms,

But a viable concept nonetheless.

Or an involuntary fly on the wall,

Desperately scrabbling to escape the drama

Unfolding before your eyes.

Now, what if I told you

that you were surrounded by walls;

Boundaries that caged you in

On your self

Your feelings

Your dreams.

And that these perimeters extended into boxes

Rooms

Creating pockets of space between your being and the Event,

Between the anger and the sorrow,

The passionate eruption

And its subsequent distress.

But to the emotional being there are no walls.

No partitions.

Only one true room is experienced,

Bordered by exterior walls alone.

And the day to day living that occurs in its midst

Ebbs and flows through all those within

Be it bad or good.

But it’s the bad that lingers.

Like a

Deep

Dark

Dank

Smell.

Wafting through passage ways,

Seeping

Into your being.

And it is by this osmotic force

That there is, always,

An elephant in the room.

And it is you

Who is that elephant;

That unwanted fly.
